With deep personal grief and sadness, I regret to inform you about Dr. Joe L. White’s passing on Wednesday November 22, 2017.

As the founder of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at CSULB in 1967, he created a model replicated throughout California and the US, allowing millions of low-income minority students to enter and graduate from public and private colleges and universities.

Fifty years after this accomplishment, we remember and honor Joe for his significant pioneering legacy.
He changed my life since he personally recruited me to enter CSULB in January 1968.

Rest in peace brother Joe and we will always remember your mantra and inspiration to fight for justice and equality: ‘keep the faith’ !
